Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Programs
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an effective and nationally recognized adjunct to traditional therapy which provides an engaging and active session for clients. Experiential interactive sessions with horses allow clients and therapists to “See” where the problems are and find ways to solve them. In the sessions, the focus is on doing, being active in-the-moment, and finding solutions that provide faster, more permanent change. How does it work? (click here to learn more)

Our program requires no previous experience with horses and does not involve mounted activities. Working with horses from the ground, individuals, families or groups of all ages are given powerful opportunities to address social skills, communication issues and other dynamics necessary for healthy, meaningful relationships. Selected activities for mirroring life provide immediate feedback which help to quickly identify problems and find solutions that work for you. EAP helps you to immediately see how couples and individuals act and react to different situations, giving you a clearer picture of what you need to do to help.
Why refer your clients to TRANSITIONS for EAP?
Professionalism is our focus at TRANSITIONS. Our facilitation team consists of an experienced mental health professional working with an equine specialist. Both team members are EAGALA(Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) trained and certified and along with our horses work as a cohesive team for the benefit of the client focused on desired treatment goals or outcomes. You can feel confident about your referral to our program.
Everyone can hit a wall in therapy where the client remains stuck in old patterns and attitudes. Our EAP sessions can help you and your clients get out of the rut and back on track. Whether used for treating all forms of addictions, trauma, social and behavioral disorders, and other issues, clients find the session’s meaningful leading to real and long-lasting change.

How is EAP different from traditional therapy?
Experiential sessions increase skills and knowledge through activities and events. In EAP clients are actively engaged in constructing experiences that are uniquely theirs and that have self-generated benefits and consequences.
