MENTAL HEALTH Clients/Therapists Are Saying...

  • 9/2/2010 - TESTIMONIAL LETTER
I had the opportunity to participate with my client in the equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP) offered at Transitions. The therapy was supported by a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as an Equine Specialist and of course the incredible horses along with my client were center stage. The projective style of the therapy revealed information about my client and the way he approaches the world that would not have been seen as clearly, if at all, in other forms of therapy. An individual participating in EAP receives immediate feedback because all the client's actions are significant and affect how the horses respond. This is extremely useful in therapy for one looks pretty silly arguing with a horse and eventually is left with the understanding about how he or she approaches others, themselves, and the world around them. With this understanding comes acceptance allowing growth to occur as the person explores other approaches which leads to a new perspective about life.

  • 8/15/2010 - TESTIMONIAL LETTER
"My son has been through years of CBT, and while it can be very effective, I find it's much more challenging for an adolescent to utilize. Equine Therapy is such an intense and immediate experience. It's impossible to evade issues or stall the process with the animals, as they truly sense and respond to your state of being in the moment. I've seen more results in four months of Equine Therapy than in the previous three years we've spent in traditional family sessions. It has been a blessing for our family."

    Lori Fisher

SMART SKILLS Participants/Administrators Are Saying...

  • "We really applaud Lynn and the horses. Our youth learned a lot of life lessons in a very unorthodox method and had a great time.  They had to overcome their fears and trust their instincts and it was amazing to watch.  One of our kids was afraid of horses and by the end of the lesson was braiding the horses' hair.  Thanks Lynn, E-Bay, Martini, Shahlik and Ali." - Tracy Williams , Executive Director Youth Empowerment, Spindale, NC

  • "TRANSITIONS really did  transition our group... As a nonprofit that serves at-risk youth, very few of our teens and preteens have had the opportunity to see a horse "up close" much less interact with one.  On our first visit emotions ranged from excited to terrified.  As time progressed those emotions changed to expectant and inquisitive.  The youth who were initially leery of such an intimidating animal began to perceive body language, gain and give respect, understand expectations and translate that into their daily lives through their [homework]". - Kimberly Horvath, Fiscal Officer Youth Empowerment, Spindale, NC

EQUESTRIAN Students Are Saying...

“Thank you for an “eye opening” experience…my horse and i were struggling when i finally realized that i was sending conflicting messages about who was in charge…wow, what a life lesson. I have been struggling with communicating with one of my associates at work, who does not always respond to a gentle ask…i am learning a lot about horses, people and myself… R. Rateree
