Professional Memberships and Training Credentials
E-bay
E-bay (aka; “E”) is a 12 year-old Sorrel colored registered Quarter Horse and the veteran of the TRANSITIONS herd (or “Your Majesty” as he likes to be referred to). Originally from Montana, E-bay came to Colorado as a young Stallion in the spring of 2000 where we were fortunate enough to have him move in permanently. He is the strong silent type with an amazing amount of patience, desire to please … (as in “please” give me a cookie)… and at 15.2 hands and 1050 pounds, is very athletic.
E-bay enjoys both trail-riding and cutting cattle whenever he gets the chance, has never met a pasture he didn’t like and believes he is invisible to all humans whenever eating or sleeping….which is most of the time. “E” has definitely earned a high degree of trust and respect within the herd and has proven to be a great leader.
Martini
Martini, just as his name suggests, is the perfect companion at the end of a long day to let go of life’s chaos and stress. This 10 year-old registered Tennessee Walking Horse is a gentle giant that loves being around people and who is very affectionate. We liberated Martini from a farm in Tennessee 8 years ago where unpleasant “tools” and harsh methods were used to force a horse to walk in a certain way simply for show. Today, Martini is a free spirit and with his almost black/coffee bean colored coat, long flowing mane and tail is an inspiring sight to all when he gallops across the pastures here at TRANSITIONS.
The biggest boy on staff at 16.2 hands and 1250 pounds, Martini is the epitome of a team player accepting any assignment thrown at him with style and grace. He has a quiet confidence about him, knows who he is and thrives in his role within the herd.
Shahlik ("shaa-leek")
Have you ever been around a 5-year old who is so curious about everything that the “who, what why” questions never stop coming? Then you know Shahlik. This gregarious (and often mischievous), Grey, 5 year old Egyptian Arabian has an insatiable curiosity and appetite for learning and is one of the most intelligent horses you’ll ever meet. Shahlik and his cousin Alik (profile below) came to us at the same time from an Arabian breeding farm in Florida where they had been kept in a pasture as part of a large stud colt herd.
Not only did these two have to overcome the challenge of blending into a new herd with E-bay and Martini, they had been handled by humans so rarely before living with us they also had to learn to trust us. Today Shahlik serves as the self-appointed C.I.P for the herd, (Chief Instigator of Play)!
Alik
Alik or “Ollie” for short is the quiet one of the bunch. A cousin to Shahlik (profile above) and also an Egyptian Arabian has a beautiful chestnut brown coat with flaxen mane and tail and is as sweet as he is flashy. Also 5 years old, Alik has the graceful movement of a ballet dancer. Our resident shrinking violet, he is learning to build his self confidence and trust while attempting to assert himself in the herd. Happy to remain in the last spot in the pecking order, he neither needs nor cares for the responsibilities of leadership among his fellow herd mates. His new best friend is now Buddy (profile below) and the two mellow fellows’ are often seen hanging out together in the pasture while the others play dominance games.
Always ready to receive a friendly scratch from a passer by, if he is ever allowed to get close enough to the fence to greet you (the other horses keep him waiting in the distance), Alik loves attention and even gives hugs!
Located on 80 beautiful rolling acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina our convenience and economy partnered with customized cutting edge programs deliver better performance. (map it)
